New markets for agricultural and forestry production (AGRIFORVALOR)

The EU-funded project AGRIFORVALOR dealt with the utilisation of residues and by-products from agricultural and forestry production in the form of cascade utilisation. New partnerships between research and innovation were initiated. In three "Biomass Innovation Design Hubs" in Andalusia (Spain), Hungary and Ireland, hub managers conducted demand-oriented training on the utilisation of specific residues and individual mentoring and coaching on the implementation of new business models. Regional network managers assisted practitioners to identify opportunities for recycling and to coordinate and accompany the implementation of new ideas in the context of innovative business models.

AGRIFORVALOR thus provided a catalyst and facilitator for new commercial opportunities for agriculture and forestry at regional, national and EU level. The project contributed to building a new bioeconomy (Bioeconomy 2.0) that does not compete with food production.

Steinbeis Europa Zentrum coordinated the project and was responsible for the coordination, the administrative project- and knowledge management, the communication activities, the support around IP rights, the dissemination and exploitation of project results and the innovation management.
