and with societyDeveloping solutions for societal issues
Global challenges such as climate change, digitalisation or the reconstruction of the economy after the COVID19 pandemic must be addressed in a long-term and sustainable manner. For this, processes of strategic planning and regional, economic and social transformation must be initiated and sustained at an early stage. Transnational cooperation and macro-regional strategies contribute to making the most of future opportunities for Europe's regions.
Social innovation and the social sciences, economics and humanities form a cross-sectional area that plays an important role in many other research priorities, especially with regard to an interdisciplinary dialogue between research, politics and administration. Integrating the socio-economic dimension into the design, development and implementation of research projects and projects that support regional change and development can help identify solutions to societal issues. Therefore, within Horizon Europe, the European Commission envisages embedding these cross-cutting themes in all other research clusters, with an explicit focus in Cluster 2 "Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society".
