Since 1995, we have been successfully promoting the intelligent specialisation of regions in Europe through a variety of actions including networking experts from science and research and strengthening developing ecosystems, such as in the field of social innovation.

Building on concrete analyses, Steinbeis Europa Zentrum can support you in planning and implementing the transformation of your local or regional economy. We can help you to position yourself successfully within your targeted regions and accompany the development of your specific ecosystem, for example, in the field of social innovation or sustainability (Green Deal). To this end, we build strategic European links to mutually strengthen your economy and maximise the use of European financing. In addition, we offer tailor-made training for regional actors and cluster initiatives in the areas of knowledge and technology transfer.

Roadmap for a future-oriented regional transformation

We provide impulses and accompany regional developments to enable the future viability and transformation of regional economies and societies towards more sustainability and resilience.

In moderated processes with regional administrations and actors from the economy and society, we identify the needs and the potential of the region, find the most important regional drivers as well as possible partnerships. Like this, we develop concrete scenarios and create a roadmap for the future.

We analyse already existing cooperation potential of universities and companies in the region. We also look at the benchmark of regional measures and framework conditions for innovation and cooperation. With vivid presentations, we provide an overview of the most viable areas for development and growth.

The focal points of the last few years were, among others: access to key technologies for SMEs, technology roadmaps and good practices in the area women entrepreneurship.

Implementing intelligent specialisation with the right cooperation partners

Based on actual needs, we create scenarios for exchange, networking, research and development with other European partners. Such insights help the individual regions to save resources while at the same time, offering opportunities to access to new infrastructures and partners. The aim is to strengthen the competitiveness of the regions and to find funding opportunities for initial implementations.

Especially in macro-regional contexts, smart specialisation strategies make sense, as regions talk to each other, build up and exchange knowledge and explore the technology potential of neighbouring regions for the purpose of mutual benefit.

Using cluster initiatives and networks as drivers of regional transformation

Determining the position of cluster initiatives and networks in international competition strengthens their role in regional transformation and offers new growth scenarios. Existing gaps in value chains in the implementation of sustainability, digitalisation and resilience become apparent and can then be solved through new strategic cooperation.

Through these new connections, a stronger integration of the cluster into new and existing innovation and industrial ecosystems can take place, accelerating internationalisation and technology transfer for the benefit of the local or regional economy.

We create awareness and thus strengthen the ecosystem of social innovation at local, regional and interregional level,through proven programmes of training, exchange and networking opportunities.
