Innovative hybrid solution for eXtra Large scale hydrogen refuelling stations (COSMHYC XL)

In order to establish hydrogen mobility for large-scale applications, further progress must be made, especially with regard to the hydrogen refueling infrastructure. The EU project COSMHYC XL addressed this challenge and aimed to develop an innovative compression solution for extra-large hydrogen refueling stations based on the combination of a metal hydride compressor and a diaphragm compressor. Five European partners from industry and research have been working on this scalable and modular solution that can be adapted to the diversity of large mobility applications. The combination of the metal hydride compressor and diaphragm compressor enables a cost-effective solution, reducing investment and maintenance costs.

COSMHYC XL was coordinated by the European Institute For Energy Research (EIFER) in Karlsruhe, Germany. Steinbeis Europa Zentrum supported EIFER in project management and is responsible for communication, dissemination and exploitation of the project results.
