Financing for social enterprises in the Danube Region (Finance4SocialChange)

The Danube macro-region is currently lagging behind global trends in social entrepreneurship and social impact investments due to a lack of "blended" financing instruments, investors and policy support measures. The goals of the Finance4SocialChange project were to disseminate innovative financing instruments and support sustainable and scalable social enterprises in the Danube Region. The project partners trained these enterprises specifically in the areas of social impact measurement as well as funding opportunities in social impact investment. Against this background, a transnational strategy for social entrepreneurship in the Danube region has been developed. In addition, 30 social enterprises have been provided with targeted support through an international competition with a mentoring program and pitching training.

Steinbeis Europa Zentrum supported as project partner the development of a transnational strategy for impact-oriented Investment as well as a regional action plan for Baden-Württemberg to strengthen social entrepreneurship. Furthermore it supported the organisation and implementation of an international pitching competition for social enterprises as well as a multi-day training program for social enterprises in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.
