Advanced multimodal marketplace for low-emission and energy transportation (ADMIRAL)

Freight transportation is one of the major contributors to GHG emissions in Europe. However, to reduce their emissions, companies have, up to now, primarily focused on direct emissions as well as indirect emissions arising from energy consumption, whereas indirect emissions from logistics services have largely been overlooked. The EU-project ADMIRAL seeks to change this industry focus and socio-technical mindset by promoting multimodal low-emission transport chains for more sustainability and reduced environmental impact.

At the core of ADMIRAL's vision is creating a cutting-edge digital marketplace that manages the entire supply chain infrastructure while monitoring related emissions. The platform will also serve as a channel for developers to distribute innovative, sustainability-focused solutions across the EU, strongly emphasising multimodal transportation. Demonstrations and pilot programs will be carried out in four regions: Portugal-Spain, Slovenia-Croatia, Lithuania, and Finland. The consortium comprises 21 project partners from 9 EU countries.

As a project partner, Steinbeis Europa Zentrum is responsible for the communication, dissemination and exploitation of results as well as supporting the business modelling for sustainable transport and logistics.
