Technology Cooperation between Baden-Württemberg and Ukraine: Boosting Security, Resilience, and Economic Strength

The current geopolitical situation in Europe clearly demonstrates how important innovation-driven cooperation is for security, resilience, and economic stability. Through the project “Technology Cooperation BW-Ukraine: Driving Security, Resilience, and Economic Strength,” Steinbeis Europa Zentrum is strengthening collaboration between stakeholders from Baden-Württemberg and Ukraine and tapping into joint innovation and technology transfer potential.

The project focuses on identifying strengths and synergies between the two innovation ecosystems. To this end, the security and defense industries, as well as adjacent technology fields, are systematically analyzed to identify areas with high potential for joint innovation, technology transfer, and sustainable value creation. Building on this, suitable cooperation and support formats are developed to specifically strengthen these potentials.

Since security-related innovations are closely linked to other key technologies, the project also examines adjacent future-oriented fields such as digitalization, aerospace, logistics, energy, health, and circular economy. It is precisely in these fields that promising opportunities exist for new collaborations between companies, research institutions, and clusters from Baden-Württemberg and Ukraine.

For stakeholders in Baden-Württemberg, the project provides access to innovative technological developments and new opportunities for international cooperation. At the same time, it supports Ukraine by fostering economic cooperation and leveraging industrial and scientific expertise from Baden-Württemberg. This creates a solid foundation for long-term partnerships that deliver mutual benefits.

As coordinator, Steinbeis Europa Zentrum is responsible for:

  • analyzing strengths, synergies, and opportunities for cooperation between Baden-Württemberg and Ukraine in security- and defense-related fields and adjacent technology sectors
  • identifying areas of innovation with potential for technology transfer and sustainable value creation
  • developing and implementing suitable cooperation and networking formats for companies, research institutions, and clusters from both countries
  • establishing robust partnerships to strengthen security, resilience, and economic cooperation, including in the context of project development and the initiation of future project proposals
