Interreg North-West Europe: 1st Capitalisation Call

The 1st Call for Capitalisation of the Interreg North‑West Europe (NWE) Programme 2021–2027 aims to enhance the uptake, rollout and territorial impact of outputs developed by approved NWE projects. It supports further use, transfer, and embedding of solutions, tools, strategies, or trainings that were developed within running or closed projects of the current programme period. The call closes on 28 May 2026 at 12:00 CET. Projects must clearly demonstrate how their capitalisation initiative extends the original impact of project outputs—e.g., into new territories, new stakeholder groups, or new fields of application. Capitalisation initiatives must last up to 18 months, with a total budget between €200,000 and €800,000, and an ERDF co‑financing rate of 60%. An indicative €7 million ERDF is available for this call.

Thematic Priorities

This call does not define new thematic priorities. Instead, it requires proposals to build on existing outputs from any of the five NWE programme priorities addressed by approved projects.

Capitalisation initiatives must:

  • Be based on one or more completed or nearly completed project outputs with proven positive impact and uptake potential.
  • Extend the original output’s impact in one or more directions:
    • New territories
    • New stakeholder types
    • New fields or domains of activity
  • Contribute to at least one NWE programme result indicator, such as strategies/action plans taken up, solutions adopted by organisations, or training schemes completed.
  • Support the programme’s goal of reducing territorial disparities (economic, social, environmental) in the NWE area.

Examples include replicating solutions in new regions, adapting outputs to new audiences, or creating new strategies built on multiple existing outputs.

Who Can Apply?

  • Only Approved Interreg NWE projects (2021–2027) — running or closed.
These include projects approved in previous regular calls.

Not Eligible

  • Small‑scale projects from Call 3
  • Projects approved under Call 5 (due to timelines)
  • Any organisation not part of an approved NWE project in the current period

Additional Partnership Rules

  • The lead partner of the original project must remain the lead partner of the capitalisation initiative.
  • Partnerships must be focused and implementation‑ready, including only organisations directly relevant to the output(s) being capitalised.
  • New partners may be added if they bring necessary expertise or access to new territories/target groups, including partners from other ETC programmes or other EU initiatives.
