Resilient islands, resilient Europe - Clean Energy for EU Islands Forum 2026

- Mallorca, Spain

The next Clean energy for EU islands forum will take place in Mallorca, Spain on 20–21 May 2026. This forum will bring together stakeholders from across Europe to share knowledge, showcase best practices, and advance the clean energy transition on islands, reflecting the principle that resilient islands contribute to a resilient Europe.

The 2026 forum will focus on balancing environmental, economic, and social priorities at the implementation (project) phase for islands aiming to achieve 100% renewable energy. The three-year technical assistance provided to the 30for2030 islands, along with national-level regulatory reviews, has highlighted the complex governance of the energy transition on EU islands.

The forum will emphasise experience-sharing between EU island communities and representatives of various governmental levels and stakeholders, highlighting achievements and identifying remaining gaps to ensure full decarbonisation. First-hand testimonies from the transition teams of the 30for2030 islands will provide key insights to empower islands and their communities through the alignment of stakeholders’ views, priorities, and objectives. In doing so, the Forum demonstrates how building resilience at the island level strengthens Europe as a whole.

In addition, two capacity-building workshops will be held in Mallorca on 19 and 22 May 2026, offering hands-on learning and practical insights for island energy stakeholders.
